Tshomo Consulting
"Passionate about solving problems”

Meet the maker:
Teko Motlhabi describes himself as being
“passionate about solving problems”. Specifically, his business, Tshomo Consulting, helps engineering companies solve problems in the water and construction sectors. He certainly
knows what he’s talking about, with a background in engineering and years of technical experience under his belt.

Teko is not only an entrepreneur with a real talent
for spotting and creating business opportunities,
but is also committed to building a business
that meets a social need and contributes to the
community and South African’s economy.

The golden opportunity:
Three years ago, South Africa experienced serious outbreaks of waterborne disease. Communities across the country desperately needed access to clean and safe drinking water.

Teko recognised that he could put his expertise in the water and engineering sectors to good use,
and so Tshomo Consulting was born. His first job was supplying packaged water treatment plants to provide people in the affected areas with clean water to drink.

The business in a nutshell:
Tshomo Consulting specialises in supplying water and waste treatment solutions and technologies. The company is also investing in researching new technologies to deliver more efficient, high quality products and services.

My business is all about supplying clean, safe water in a cost-effective and environmentallyfriendly manner

How it’s helping the community:
For Teko, helping local communities is one of the most satisfying parts of his work. He says the
services offered by Tshomo “uplift communities” simply by preventing waterborne disease and its devastating effects on families and neighbourhoods.

There’s another happy side effect of working in this area: Teko creates jobs by using local skilled and unskilled labour, and training operators within communities to operate the water treatment plants after they have been installed by Tshomo.

The Future looks bright
Teko has high ambitions for the company: he says he plans to cover “the entire South African market” with his water treatment service, and is aiming to eventually employ at least 100 people.

He also plans to expand into another area where his water and waste engineering experience will
be put to good use: large-scale acid drainage solutions and technology.
